Employee Benefits
Below is a summary of benefits provided to full-time employees of the City of Healdsburg.
Participation in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) 2% at 60 or 2% at 62 for non-safety members; 2% at 50 or 2.7% at 57 for safety personnel as defined by PEPRA. The city does not participate in Social Security. All employees in PERS pay the employee contribution on a pre-tax basis.
Employees may choose from Kaiser, Anthem Blue Cross or Sutter Plus Health for medical coverage. Employees in Anthem Blue Cross or Sutter pay a percent of their medical premium on a pre-tax basis.
Dental coverage is provided through the city’s group plan with Delta Dental. Dental insurance premiums for employee and dependents are paid for by city.
Vision coverage is provided through Vision Service Plan (VSP) if the primary medical coverage is with Anthem Blue Cross/Sutter Health Plus or through Kaiser as part of the medical insurance coverage. Vision insurance premiums for the employee and dependents are paid for by city.
Group term life insurance and AD&D policies are provided by city. Employees in the Management Group, Mid-Management, HPOA and IAFF are provided a $100,000 term life insurance policy. IBEW employees are provided a $75,000 term life insurance policy. Council members are provided a $50,000 term life insurance policy.
Long Term Disability insurance is paid for by city. Employees are eligible for up to 67% of their salary to a maximum of $10,000 monthly.
The city’s employee assistance program is administered by Aetna and is available to employees and dependents.
There are 13 paid holidays per year. Part-time employees receive holiday pay on a prorated basis.
Employees accrue sick leave at 8 hours per month with unlimited accrual. Employees who retire from the city are eligible to receive payment for 1/2 their accumulated sick leave per MOU provisions. Part-time employees accrue sick leave on a prorated basis.
Employees accrue 10 days per year, increasing with service. Employees may accrue up to 2 times their annual accrual rate. Management and Mid-Management employees may accrue up to 3 times their annual accrual rate. Part-time employees accrue vacation leaves on a prorated basis.
Employees are eligible for 2%-6% additional compensation for 5-25 years of continuous service with the City. HPOA employees are eligible for 2%-8% additional compensation for 5-25 years of continuous service with the City.
Voluntary participation in the city’s deferred compensation, money purchase plan and retiree health savings plan are available to employees.
