CORAZÓN RECEIVES $40,000 GRANT TO SUPPORT HEALDSBURG’S APPLIANCE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME MULTIFAMILY HOUSING

HEALDSBURG, CA - This month, Corazón Healdsburg was awarded a $40,000 grant from the Community Climate Implementation Fund – a partnership between Climate Mayors, the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN), and C40 to support local climate action. The grant will support the City’s appliance replacement program, specifically targeting large low-income apartment complexes. This initiative aims to replace outdated, energy-inefficient appliances with new, ENERGY STAR® appliances, enhancing energy efficiency, energy bill savings from efficient appliances, and quality of life for low-income residents.

The City is conducting assessments of refrigerators and dishwashers across eight low-income housing sites. To date, pre-assessments have been completed at five properties, identifying 103 refrigerators and 44 dishwashers in need of replacement. The City’s program covers the full cost of appliance replacements through funding from our allocated state Cap and Trade allowances.

Corazón’s involvement will be critical in overcoming implementation challenges, offering essential support to property managers and assisting residents through the appliance replacement process.

To further support energy efficiency, Corazón staff will be trained by City staff on various incentive programs available at the City, State, and Federal levels. This will equip them to offer bilingual assistance to residents, helping them access additional resources and navigate available support services.

The grant from the Community Climate Implementation Fund will play a crucial role in reducing energy consumption, lowering energy bills, and improving living conditions for residents of Healdsburg’s low-income housing communities. Corazón’s efforts will further the City’s commitment to sustainability and equity, making these essential upgrades accessible to the people who need them most.

For more information about the appliance replacement program please contact, Terra Sampson at 707-431-3122 or by email at tsampson@healdsburg.gov.
