Fair Housing Services

The City has partnered with Fair Housing Advocates of Sonoma County to provide access to free, non-biased services available to all tenants, agents and landlords who live in, manage or own property in Healdsburg. Fair Housing Advocates of Sonoma County can assist with housing discrimination complaints, referral and support when filing a complaint of lawsuit, assistance for people with disabilities, education programs for tenants and housing providers, foreclosure prevention counseling and pre-purchase education.
The federal Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, familial status (families with children), and disability. In addition to these classifications, California law prohibits discrimination on the basis of ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, source of income, and other arbitrary discrimination based on personal characteristics, such as “age.”
