Community Gardening

The city offers several opportunities for community gardening through the garden project at the Community Center and through the community garden plots for rent.

Community Garden Plots

Do you love to garden? The department offers a community garden at Badger Park. The gardening year is January 1 - December 1, annually.  Please call the Community Services Department for more information.

Due to the popularity of the Badger Garden, there is currently a Wait List. Please call the department to be placed on the wait list.

Under direction of the garden coordinator, volunteers help the Community Services Department bring fresh, organic produce to the community as well as provide a learning environment for the children in our after school programs and youth camps. Last year over 1,400 lbs of fresh, organic produce was donated from the garden to the Healdsburg Food Panty and other local organizations that distribute food to families in need.  The garden supports the Sonoma County Health Action goal of growing, eating and sharing healthy food within our community.

Local Generosity

This garden is made possible by the generosity of local donors and volunteers. Donors help underwrite the garden expenses and volunteers help plant, nurture and harvest the produce. For more information about how you can participate please call or email the department.
